This 70 Mile Back roads ride takes us to Jay and Silent Bob's comic book store in Redbank New Jersey and home of the Buddy Christ .

For those of you that don't know Buddy Christ is a parody religious icon in the film Dogma In the film, he is part of a campaign ("Catholicism Wow!") to renew the Churches image. led by Cardinal Glick (George Carlin) the Church decides to retire it, and creates Buddy Christ as a more uplifting image of Jesus .

The statue of Jesus is smiling and winking while pointing with one hand and giving the thumbs-up sign with the other hand.

Buddy Christ has been popping up ever since:

in Jay and Silent Bob in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back Carrie Fisher has a Buddy Christ statue on her car dashboard.

The "death cards" in Clerks that Randal flicks through have numerous images of Buddy Christ.

In Clerks II, Jay wears a tank top with Buddy Christ's image.

With the trip there and back plus time for rest stops and photos of Buddy Christ expect to spend 4 or 5 hours out. We should be home in time for dinner. If the route turns out to be as nice as it looks we'll probably come home the same way or take some other back road way home avoiding the highway altogether.
